The Care Ministry historically established a number of Parish Care Groups throughout the Diocese of the Eastern Cape.
These groups consist of care ministers who have been trained in the skills of caring and support and provide care to the bereaved, lonely, sick or suffering.
This programme differs from the HIV/AIDS programme in a number of ways:
- Care is parish focussed rather than community focussed.
- Due to funding restrictions the Parish Care Group programme does not fall under the supervision structures of the Care Ministry. Groups are encouraged to meet together under the leadership of their Parish Priest and a group co-ordinator.
